Firestorm Zero – Mid March 2025 Updates
On Friday 14th March 2025 Linden Lab officially announced news about Firestorm being available now in your favourite web browser which is really exciting and loads of residents are trying it out now. There is no download and no installation which is good. There is low lag and high performance with Firestorm Zero.

There was limited time launch offers giving you 5 hours for L$250 over the weekend but they seem unavailable now. Apparently there will be final pricing soon when it launches probably. There is enhanced security and privacy with Firestorm Zero along with much more.
New Second Life Community Roundtable with Philip Rosedale talking about Firestorm Zero, Project Zero, Second Life and more. The town hall lasts for 1 hour and 26 minutes.
The Community Round table took place at Town Hall islands on Friday 14th which went well. Apparently there was 260 avatars attending with 400 watching on the live stream.

New Firestorm Zero Updates
- First release of Firestorm Zero has bugs and will be fixed soon. It’s a separate project from Project Zero
- L$250 = 5-hour pass to access the service via the Second Life Dashboard (left side Purchase Streaming Hours). The estimated cost to LL to stream is about $1.75/hr.
- The lab don’t know yet on the long term costs will be for Firestorm Zero
- New Firestorm category on the Second Life feedback portal
- Firestorm Zero is aimed towards existing Second Life users with lower hardware specs
- Firestorm Zero currently operates at a fixed 1080p screen resolution. You can run Firestorm Zero on mobile/tablet but there are issues that still need addressing and fixing
- Uploading content like images & meshes are not available yet
- Vivox voice is supported through Firestorm Zero
More improvements will be coming soon for Firestorm Zero within future releases. It’s going to be interesting to see what happens with Firestorm Zero over the next few years or so.
